Here Comes The Sunscreen

As a little kid, your mom slathering you with sunscreen before you were allowed to go play in the pool seemed agonizing. We all probably remember that lengthy process, of waiting for mom to lather every inch of your skin in the thick white lotion. Just standing there in the scorching hot heat, waiting for it to be over, while all we wanted to do was hop in the pool. I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard the phrase “mother knows…

The Not So Secret Garden

During our trip to Colorado, my sister and I were lucky enough to get to stay super close to Garden of the Gods. It was practically a necessity to drive through once a day. You can’t go anywhere within the park without seeing something amazing; we even ran into a family of deer one day! The print of this dress has a really cool western vibe it really makes it unique. The fabric is flowy, so the two lines of…

The Dunes Day Quest

The photos in this post were taken at one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever seen. I never thought a place like Great Sand Dunes National Park existed in the states. When the dunes first came into view, they looked just like a painting, but knowing they were real was absolutely mind blowing. Too bad walking through the dunes wasn’t quite as magical as looking at them. It was freezing, windy, and of course sandy. It feels like walking…

A Clockwork Pink

The best things always happen when you aren’t expecting them; that’s exactly how my sister and I stumbled upon these gorgeous cherry blossom trees in the middle of Colorado Springs. We were on our way to go get burgers so we definitely weren’t expecting to run into something so beautiful, especially when there was nothing blooming in a five-mile radius.     This dress is that “wow” piece we all go looking for when we need something special to wear.…

The Divine Denim

Kansas City is most famous for its BBQ and writers. Gates BBQ has the best ribs smothered in the tastiest BBQ sauce. After a long day of traveling, it was nice to be able to walk in and get reenergized with a rack of ribs. And by reenergized, I mean immediately pass out with a food coma. Good thing we were close to the hotel!   My favorite writer, Gillian Flynn, is from Kansas City, so I was excited to…

If You Give A Pigg A Pattern

If you’re not from the area it may sound surprising to find out that the Lexington cemetery is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in central Kentucky. In the spring and summer there are gorgeous beds of tulips and the whole cemetery is filled with lush green trees. As a kid I always looked forward to going to the ponds and feeding the geese and ducks, provided they were in a good mood. If they aren’t, I’d highly…

Cate The Great And The Swampy Cove

Even if you have lived somewhere your entire life you can still find magical places around. I like to think of Kentucky Horse Park as one of those spots; in the spring there is a field of weeds so beautiful you would swear it was a purposefully planted with purple flowers. This time of year it’s dead of course, but that doesn’t mean the Horse Park doesn’t still have a few tricks up its sleeve. The Cove always reminds me…
